Unlike other churches in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, St. Aidan's Chapel is open only in the summer, from late June to early September. The Chapel is located on the Smith Neck Road, just before the entrance to Salter's Point.

St. Aidan' s clergy are ordained Episcopal ministers, and the Chapel is part of the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts, but the Chapel's congregation includes different denominations. St. Aidan's warmly welcomes persons of all faiths to its services. The Chapel has been fortunate in its leadership and preaching.

St. Aidan' s seeks to maintain strong ties with its larger community. To that end it supports non-profit community organizations as diverse as the Community Nurse Association of Fairhaven, the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, the New Bedford Women's Center, the Penekise Island School, and others, as well as contributing to the Episcopal Diocese and the Presiding Bishop' s Fund for World Relief.

In keeping with its surroundings, the 89-year old clapboard Chapel is noted for its informality and seaside theme. The altar hangings and needlepoint kneelers, showing fish and a variety of sea birds, have been designed or made by members of the congregation. The font is shaped like a shell. Even the minister's stole is light blue and decorated with fish. The altar guild provides outstanding flower arrangements from the members , own gardens.

A Memorial Garden adjacent to the Chapel is available for the interment of ashes of friends of St. Aidan' s. Information about Memorial Garden plots is available upon request.
